Alien Vs Predator
USA 2004
Dir: Paul W.S. Anderson
So many bad reviews for this film, so I worked at pushing down my expectations. when I first heard about this film I was very excited. Should I get excited about the release of a movie? Yes they bring a large array of emotions to the world, so while they may be unnecessary for life, they do make it more interesting. Even films like AVP which disappoint. There was much wasted potential in this film. The lead in to the battle was good, the arena was well thought out, but the battle/hunt was lackluster. When you think of the tension in Alien or the hunt in Predator you wonder why there could not have been more from this film. Paul Anderson's last film (Resident Evil) also lacked the tension (it still had tension, but not enough), but was still a better done film. He clearly needs to work on his directorial skills. To be fair John McTiernan and Ridley Scott are 2 of the best. Knowing the Alien franchise better than the Predator franchise I spotted several references to the Alien movies (Human lead is a woman, Lance Hendriksen and the Company), but none from the Predator movies.
One of the best bits of this film is the tag line (Who ever wins... We Lose), love it.
Why seeit? you are a fan of either of the franchises.
